Jessner's Chemical Peel for All Skin Types
WHAT IS IT: A Jessner's peel combines 14 percent salicylic acid, 14 percent lactic acid and 14 percent resorcinol. This peel ships to you in a 30ml (1fl oz) glass amber bottle. This amount will provide 8-10 full face peels. This is a 1.2 pH medium-level peel designed for experienced users, and is suitable for most skin types. Jessner's peels have a great track record with darker skin types that normally don't respond well to peeling.
WHAT DOES IT DO: The salicylic acid in the Jessner's peel is responsible for dissolving the upper layer of the skin by breaking up keratin. Salicylic acid helps dissolve the dirt, sebum and debris in your pores that cause blackheads, enlarged pores and acne outbreaks. It also helps reduce oil production and provides gentle exfoliation.
The lactic acid in this peel stays on the surface of the skin where it provides exfoliation. Lactic acids have been used for centuries to renew skin tone and texture. You can find low concentrations of lactic acid in honey, papaya and citrus fruit. Lactic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy acid that helps encourage cell turnover and stimulates collagen formation while helping to smooth and soften the skin.
Resorcinol provides antiseptic properties while helping to break up the glue that holds dead skin cells together. Resorcinol is widely used to professionally treat eczema, acne and other dermatological issues. Resorcinol is an effective exfoliator that helps loosen the damaged skin layers to expose the new fresh skin beneath while also stimulating collagen to form.
These ingredients combined effectively treat fine lines, acne, sun damage, dull skin, uneven complexion, rosacea, millia, age spots and superficial scarring.
HOW DO YOU USE IT: Chemical peels are applied in a thin layer across the skin and left on for 5-15 minutes. If frosting does not occur, an additional layer can be applied. The chemical peel is neutralized in a simple baking soda solution. Your chemical peel will include detailed step-by-step instructions including pre- and post-care instructions.
WHY USE AN AT-HOME JESSNER'S PEEL: If you're like most of my clients, you'd love to be able to look in the mirror and see clear, even toned, radiant skin, but you're unable or unwilling to pay for expensive treatments offered by spas and dermatology offices.
You owe it to yourself to see what a dramatic difference a Jessner's chemical peel can give you, not just on your face, but neck, chest and hands. This versatile peel has a proven track record of safety and great results. Jessner's peels done in a dermatology office cost an average of $300.00 per peel. On average, you'll require six courses to see optimal results.
PRECAUTIONS:Because it is closely related to Aspirin, there is a small chance of allergic reaction if you have an Aspirin allergy and you should choose a different peel.
WHAT TO EXPECT: The Jessner's Peel is a light to medium peel, the depth of which is controlled by the amount of time you leave it on your skin and the number of layers you use. Peeling can range from mild to moderate. There may be some redness right after the peel, but generally there is not much if any actual peeling.
OTHER INFORMATION: This is a very safe peel and is suitable for all skin types, especially those with oily or acne prone skin. Some darker skin tones, particularly African American run a small risk of post peel hyper or hypo pigmentation.
As with all products, a patch test is recommended to see how your skin reacts.
